Meet Dr. Lantz

Originally from Northeastern Pennsylvania, Daniel Lantz was brought up in a family that focused on a strong educational background and a love and respect for animals. Growing up, Dan and his family cared for dogs, guinea pigs, fish, birds, and a hedgehog!

While in college, Dan spent a summer as an intern at the Philadelphia Zoo. Dan also learned more about diagnostic imaging of exotic animals and wildlife from a mentor in his residency training program who works with the Columbus Zoo. After moving back to the East coast, Dan has collaborated with his local zoo, The Essex County Turtleback Zoo.

Dan has always loved learning about the world around him, as well as having fun experiences with animals. Highlights of these experiences include when Dan and his wife Rebecca, a veterinary neurologist, went on safari in Africa. And also the time when Dan got to meet with his favorite animal, the capybara!

Meet Dr. McBride

Dr. Rebecca McBride is originally from Long Island, NY.  As early as she can remember, Rebecca has loved caring for animals and had several rabbits as childhood pets.  In her undergraduate program, Rebecca focused on sciences and continued to gain hands-on animal experience by living and working on the dairy farm on campus at the University of Vermont.

Veterinary school brought two great loves to Rebecca’s life: one was the science of neurology and the other was her first dog, a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel named Pons (after a part of the brain).  During veterinary school, Rebecca was awarded the Neuroanatomy and Clinical Neurology Prize for being the student most likely to excel in veterinary neurology.  In her professional career, she has continued to advance her skills by focusing on her special interest in neurosurgery, particularly spinal stabilization for LS disease, wobblers, and vertebral malformations.  She also has professional interests in the management of Chiari-like malformation and syringomyelia.

Outside of work, Dr. McBride enjoys training with her Cavalier King Charles Spaniels, Mac, Althea, and Tully in nosework, agility, and obedience.  She volunteers with the Cavalier Rescue USA in her spare time as well. She also enjoys spending time with her two cats, Rosita and Yasmine, and her husband, Dr. Daniel Lantz
